Several months ago, my husband sent an email to MO DNR about our water system, SK&M. We were having water shutdowns very often due to the pump going out and possibly other reasons. After the water would come back on, we would have to drink and cook with bottled water and also boil water for at least 3 days. There were a few times in a row, if I remember correctly, where we were able to use the water for a very brief time only for it to go back off again. (See attached PDF)

On March 6 2026 I took a water sample to Perry County health department to have my water tested. I got the results back and it tested positive for TOTAL COLIFORM BACTERIA. Result Present bacterially unsafe. I called SK&M and talked to the owner took a picture of the results and sent it to him he said he never test for that I told him that it was unsafe to drink and he said to me what do you want me to do about it I said fix it . He said he would look into it. I told him that I was boiling my water. And that I would retest the water again until it was safe to drink I was expecting him to get back with me but he never did . He did post a week or so later that we needed to boil the water I did test 2weeks and it tested ok. He is not reliable

To be honest after the meeting in which SK&M was allowed to raise our rates significantly, iv had very little contact with them directly. Once I called with a question about my water with Mr. Larose and before I could ask he blew up saying that the water is fine and passing every test. I said all I wanted to know if he knew the hardness of the water as I recently purchased a water softener and was trying to set the settings. *See attached

Good morning! I live in the City limits of Perryville however I am on the community well of SK& M water. For the last 3-4 years I have had numerous problems with the water company. First I thought they were not reading my meter properly. Then my meter reads were not corresponding at all. *See attached

This past April, we witnessed sewage spilling onto our property via a sewer access point. This leak was part of a larger sewer back up issue that we were told had been going on since February of this year. The situation was resolved after 4+ weeks. We believe SK&M was aware of this issue before we were. This leak seemingly had no impact on our sewer or water service; however, it was disappointing SK&M did not make any effort to contact us concerning the leak, and we had to find it for ourselves. Around January 1, there was an accounting discrepancy in our water and sewer bill, which we had paid. The situation was remedied after 3 billing cycles. Communication from their side was very poor during that time frame until the very end.
